Grigory Tagiltsev

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. My work combines advanced imaging techniques, primarily cryo-EM, cryo-tomography, and AFM, to study membrane proteins. I am fascinated by the shapes life takes, and by the tools that let us capture them in their native state.

• 2022–Present — Postdoctoral Researcher, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Advisor: John Briggs)
• 2016-2021 — Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics, Weill Cornell Medicine/Cornell University (Advisor: Simon Scheuring)
• 2010-2015 — Specialist in Chemistry (equivalent to Bachelor + Master), Moscow State University

Beyond research

• Volunteering: Mentored students on science careers and organized science outreach programs
• Writing: Author of science communication blog (in Russian)
• Hobbies: staying active with soccer, gym, and swimming, also playing guitar
